Day 1 thoughts...

 Preparation

well today was the start of the SST NTU Flagship program 2013, a 3D2N camp at the well known NTU, Nanyang Technological University. Nothing much really happened today as it the camp just started and we checked in and went through the usual process of the talk etc.

But something that attracted my attention, was the two presentations on Earth Science and Nano Technology. It attracted me because one, i grew up in a "environmentally try-hard friendly" family, where we would save water and electricity where possible. A pity that this topic on Earth Science is not taught in Singapore as it would also be a pointless topic because we do not suffer from earthquakes... Moving on to two, I've been reading and playing all those science fiction stories since young, and nano technology has always been a keypoint in those stories, thus it really did draw my attention, and it made it much cooler as well that we, humans are playing with atoms and constructing it to what we want it to be. My question for this topic, the first electron microscope uses the method of having one atom on the tip to feel the contours and than present the atoms of the object, how did the people originally fit an atom on the tip of the point than? Really boggles me....

Well other than those, the day has been rather slow paced than, we were introduced to the topics we were doing and briefed on the requirements from this camp. While im doing this, here is a sexy photo of Ethan and Wai Yan ;)
